Shepherd's Funnys

In honor of Shepherd's half birthday last weekend...

Some people have a child that is just quirky funny.  They don't mean to be funny and many people don't recognize their odd humor but in our family, in my world, we value such humor.... and its a good thing.

Though all the boys say funny things, Shepherd continually tops the cake.  This is the best and easiest way for me to keep a record of it.  Enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------
The day after Easter

Shep- "Did you buy eggs at the store?"

Me- "No"

Shep-  "I want to kill some eggs again."

Hunter looks at me horrified.  After a few moments, I bust out laughing when I realize he wanted to "dye" eggs again.  Once I explained to Hunter, he immediately went to giving Shepherd a very serious talk about the difference between "die" and "dye."

--------------------------------------------------------------
Outside with sidewalk chalk he writes this.
    Shepherd liks mom.

Obviously, he meant "Shepherd likes mom."  Ashton immediately corrected him.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Shep:  mommy, can I see your hammer?
Me:  Why?
Shep: Oh, I am just going to fix your car.

*** He also recently got my hammer and a nail and nailed it into the wall behind the den curtains.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Shep:  Mommy, in the book that I am making, your power is to shoot out farts and you can think really good.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Walking out of Hobby Lobby
Shep:  I know almost all things
Me- about what?
Shep: You know, about things.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Shep:  Hunter, can I touch your lizard?
(ha, maybe Chad and I have our minds in the gutter, but we both laughed out loud)
Explanation- Hunter "bought" a purple sticky lizard thing at his school market and very simply Shepherd wanted to hold it.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Shep:  Do I pee in this yard (point to backyard) or that yard (front yard)
*** He has been told he can only pee in the backyard and for some reason, this bright child can not keep it straight.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand word.  How could I post about Shepherd and not at least mention poop?  Yes, he spray painted dog poop with orange spray paint.

--------------------------------------------------------------
All of these happened in just a one week time frame.

Shepherd has always made me melt.  He continues to be quirky and smart.  He still loves puzzles and coloring and reading with me and music.  He has hair that I am absolutely envious of and a smile that can work a room.... not to mention gives that best hugs... seriously, he is liking hugging a bear cub.

Only 6 more months until he is 5!  Wow!

Love you my poppa tarda (a nickname that we use on eachother and yet another example of his our quirkiness.)

Mother's Day Love

***forgive my lack of posting... I have had my  nose in my Kindle.
My precious men.
We got quite a treat on Saturday with both our moms and my grandma all meeting up for the boy's soccer games.  Zach and his family as well as Nolan and Papa Hub also came. So, we celebrated an early Mother's Day.

I gave our moms these cool prints from one of my favorite design blogs.  Love this girls simple style.  Anyway, got each little print framed... I just love little things like this.

I hinted told Chad what I wanted for Mother's Day.  He somehow managed to get the wrong one and his dad and I exchanged it... Bless Chad, he tried.

Anyway, I wanted a table for 6 for our family to eat outside.  The boys LOVE to eat outside so it was logical to get a place to eat.

I also bought myself a Kindle... which I opened early.  Amazon was running a special on their cheapest model which is normally $69, I got it for $19.  I love how simple it is.  It is small with no bells and whistles.  I have Amazon Prime so I get to check out a book a month and then my mother in law recommend that I check out electronically through the library as well.  So, I have been a bit of book worm.

Here is a picture right before church.  One day, one day, I will get a good picture of all 4 boys and me.
Ashton was mad at me by this point because I wanted him to JUST STAND STILL

And just for grins, mom, here is the outfit you got for Bennett.  He got a TON of compliments on it.  He looked too cute!

Sportin' this awesome outfit.

Happy Belated Mother's Day to those special ladies in my life!

From Eddie

Hi, I am Eddie.  I am officially the 2nd dog to stay at my sister, Hannahs house--- which will from here on out be referred to as the Dog House
As much as I love these little people, this picture taking stuff is traumatic for me... I went and laid in a corner immediately after this photo session.  Molly assured me that if I just looked at the camera, it would be over quickly.

I have heard that my dog nephew Riggs blogged about his stay at the Dog House.  If you don't know, Riggs is my nemesis, my archrival, my enemy.  From the moment we met, we have disliked one another.  You see, Riggs took away my brother Nolan and for that, there will be no forgiveness.  Plus, he just waltzed up to me the first time we met like he owned my house... MY HOUSE.  I just dont have time for that.

It is because of this relationship that I am also documenting my stay at Hannah's house.  My documentary will not be so silly and puppyish though as I am much more refined than that chocolate lab.

Us black labs are more dignified.  I wish that my sister, Abby was here to back me up on that assessment, however she tolerated Riggs and she may say we are more refined not because we are black but because we are old.  Unfortunately, my sister, Abby went to heaven a few weeks back.  I miss her everyday but she couldn't play with me anymore and was seriously starting to slow down my walks.  She would just lay down in the middle of the road.  She was 13 years old. What a girl she was.
Pretty Abby... picture courtesy of Nolan.

Enough of sad things....

I have been here for a whole week... Riggs has never stayed that long so I win that prize.  My Ma and Pa went to Florida for a week (they are back and I will go back to my calm, predictable home tomorrow.)  It would be a lie if I said I wasn't excited.
in the car line
I heard that Riggs eats toys, crayons, and other random things while visiting so I decided to give it a try.  I tore up Batman.  I dug all kinds of mammoth holes in the yard.  I slept on all kinds of furniture.  I, however, refuse to eat crayons... what kind of animal do you think I am?

The worst thing about staying here is the lack of walks.  I mean, do they not realize that I live a spoiled life of two perfectly scheduled walks every single day.  I have yet to receive a real walk since I have been here.  It is getting a bit annoying.

The best part about my visit was either picking up my two oldest nephews, Hunter and Ashton at school during the week or going through the McDonald's drive through and sharing a cheeseburger with Shepherd.  If that is family life, then I could get used to that.
Watching Hunter and Ashton walk out of school.  I get all kinds of petting!
Getting my last bite of cheeseburger
I also loved hanging out with my "cousin" Molly.  She, Abby, and I are best buds so it has been nice being with her.  I liked eating my breakfast and dinner beside her.... reminds of old times.

Everyone says that I am "such a beautiful big boy."  And, I have to agree.  I am pretty spectacular.  I didn't use to like kids that much, but I really like them now.  Even the baby is good- he doesn't bother too much.  I get plenty of lovins and plenty of food... what else does a dog need... besides some peace and quiet?
Hunter loved having me.  He slept in the same room as me the first night so I wouldn't be scared.
Overall, I give the Dog House 4 / 5 stars.  I am sure that I will be coming back.

A Birthay and a half of one

- Saturday was Smash' half birthday.  Those that know me, know I love a good half birthday... In fact, since I neglected to do a first birthday party for Bennett, expect us to do something for his half birthday. :)
Anyway, I have decided to start a little tradition with the boys inspired by my parents.  Mom and dad take each boy out for their birthday... just them and that kid.
My man... ready for our date night.

I have decided to steal the idea and take them out for their half birthday.  Ashton picked Cracker Barrel... and so do I.  We had a great dinner, he beat me in checkers (like really beat me), we did a bit of shopping, and ran by Krispy Kreme.
Arent those puppys pretty?
Ashton is such an awesome kid.  He can read people so well (which can be a curse when he so easily finds the one thing that pushes your button and then he pushes said button over and over and OVER again.) But, at school, this has helped him tremendously.  He is so aware of other peoples feelings and his actions.  He is a stud little athletic and is tough as nails!
He talked to me about EVERYTHING the whole way to dinner
Happy 1/2 Birthday Ashton!  Love ya to pieces!

And my GrandmaDean celebrated 79 today!  We were able to take her dinner and hang out with her and Nolan.  I am so blessed by her.  She is an example of pure awesome!  I am so glad I can just run over to her house whenever I want.

*** I unfortunately forgot my camera, but Nolan and his faithful iPhone grabbed a couple shots for me.

Happy Birthday GrandmaDean!
