Lots and Lots of Boys

I still have until the 14th to cope with the fact that I have a 10 year old....

This post is all about the PARTAY.  It is Hunter's year to have the big party.  We discussed at GREAT length what he wanted to do and we finally landed on a sleepover where he could invite 6 kids over to spend the night (I also allowed Ashton to invite his best friend).  Last night was that night and everyone was able to come... so if the Lord laid us on your heart, you know now why- 11 boys.

Hunter's invites.... left to right- Austin, Jessie, Noah, Hunter, Brett, my Hunter, Garrett
Shepherd, North, and Ashton
Hunter has made some great friends at his school, soccer, and church.

The evening consisted of...

Soccer
***speaking of, yay Clemson soccer.  In the semifinals for NCAA!  :)
some of the soccer players

Other Hunter and Ashton

Noah and Garrett facing off

ziplining
Only one zipline picture.  Never made it to the back of the yard.  Plus, major injury by a visiting 9th grade brother of one of the kids.  He was ziplining in the dark (we now have a new rule about NO ziplining in the dark).  Hit his head and was literally pouring blood. Thankfully, his parents were here and the bleeding stopped by the time they got home.

The played this game forerver... forgot the name but basically you have to taste a jellybean that is either good or totally disgusting.. For example, I got black which was either licorice or skunk.  Yall, it was the most horrid thing I have EVER put in my mouth.

Noah playing the game with Shepherd.  He acted just the like the big kids and would run to the trash and spit it out.
My pick eater would not play.

Star Wars: Phantom Menace.  The dog bed had a kid in it by the middle of the movie.  Molly was not impressed.

and of course, eating.  These kids consumed 4 pizzas, a huge order of breadsticks, countless bags of chips, 4 two litres, 2 1/2 packages of break away cookies, almost an entire cake, many capri suns, 3 boxes of muffins, and half a box of popcorn.  No lie... boys can eat!
Cake and icingless cupcakes for both Hunters

Blowing out TEN candles

So tempted to crack open the whine behind those muffins... but, didnt.
Definite memories were made and a lot of fun was had.

Conversation I had with Hunter.
Hunter  Mom- "Thank you so much mom.  I had a blast."
Mom- "Oh, sweetie, you are so welcome."
Hunter Mom- "I love you mom."
Mom- "I love you too Hunt."

ha, after I had this conversation with myself in front of Hunter.  He looked at me like I was a dork and mumbled.  "I love you mom."

Hey, I take what I can get.  :)

And I think Molly sums it up nicely.

Exhausted

I love you a ton Hunter.  Hope you had a blast!

When You Are as Awesome as Ashton

Seven years ago I held this perfect baby boy with blonde hair.  I actually don't know if  I have ever seen as much blonde hair on a newborn.... lots of dark hair, sure... but not blonde.  But, Ashton had it this shiny platinum hair.  And, he still does.  Anytime I try to find him in a crowd, it only takes a second to spot his white head.
The day he was born.

6 months old... one of my favorite pictures. :)

Right after his party.  We all look tired from our busy party day but had such a good time.

Ironically, though his hair is the lightest, I would say his eyes are the least bright in their blue color.  Often taking a greyish blue tint.  His eyes also tell everything about his mood.  He gets dark circles under his eyes if he is tired.  When really tired, the circle spread deep under his eye.  His eyes squint up when he is mad and sparkle when his is being feisty. He is an infectious laugh... one that when I hear it, I normally tense up as I know that whatever he is laughing at is probably totally inappropriate. However, I cant help but laugh with him (normally.)
The birthday boy waiting in line at Carowinds.

Speaking of his laugh, he is mouthy... always wanting to get the last word whether with his brothers, his parents, or on the soccer field.  He is soooo smart.  I always called him my athlete, but the kid has some brains up their too.  After his parent/ teacher conferences last week, we saw his MAP scores were in the 90% for reading and 92% for math.  He is reading at a "J" which is where he should be reading at the end of 1st grade.  His comprehension is great as well as he can explain to me everything he is reading.  He has started to read his Bible story at night to me and Shepherd.  He is loving a book series called, Amulet.  Hunter introduced him to it and he will sit for an hour reading.... I love it as I can (and totally do) the same thing.

As I mentioned, he still loves sports and will talk on and on about football (from high school to college to professional).  Soccer is also one of his loves and he is amazing.  The ball sticks to his foot like it is glued there and he moves like the ball is apart of him.  He is fun to watch.  He has scored countless goals this year.

This was Ashton's year for the big party.  We had a Tailgating Football party at our house last Saturday.  Thankfully, we were able to get most people here.  We had over 20 adults and 19 kids (from 7 months to 9 years old).  I think it was a success as Ashton said it was the best birthday party ever.

Here are some pictures from the day.  I didn't take that many which as someone said is a sign that I was enjoying myself... which was true.

All the kids.  These kids are seriously the best of the best! Kids (and adults) were asked to wear their team colors... as you can see, lots of Clemson fans.
Front (L to R)- Seth, Caelum, Owen, Esme, Ashton, North, Bennett
Back (L to R)- Shepherd, Charlee, Sami, Logan, Luke, Noah H, Hunter, Noah T, Kaleb, Lydia, Carly, Miller

And for his actual birthday today, the boys and I went to Carowinds after church... Chad works Sundays from 2 - 8 so he couldn't come.  We let him open his presents and all yesterday so Carowinds was the last big birthday treat (except for taking doughnuts to his class tomorrow.)

Here are a couple Carowinds pics.

On the balloon ride.  Bennett and I went in one and the other three went in the other.

Ashton and his brothers on his birthday.

Seven years ago Smash changed my world.  He has brought me so much laughter and joy.  He has also managed to make me more angry than the other three probably combined (though Shepherd is starting to give him a run).  Though we often butt heads, it is because he is a strong, opinionated man in the making.

I know that he is a covenant child of the Most High God.  He is chosen and I am so grateful that I get to witness where God takes this beautiful blondie that we call Smash.

Happy Birthday kiddo!  I love you so much.

To Charlotte and a Birthday

So glad that mom and dad were able to come up for the weekend to celebrate Mom's birthday.

I thought I had a great idea to take her to see Tarzan at the Children's Theatre in Charlotte.  When she found out the cost of the tickets, she said they were too much and didnt want me spending that much.  I tried to reason with her and lost.

So, the next idea was to go to King's Mountain Battleground as they were scheduled to have a reenactment.  Government shutdown... enough said.

So, we decided to crash in on Nolan and have him give us a tour of downtown Charlotte with a ride on the Metro.  Chad had work to do so he didnt go... which also meant he got Bennett duty.

Thanks Nolan for buying our tickets... and our lunch.  Ate an old fashioned ice cream shop.
Watching the train roll in

They were so excited as they waited for the Metro

Mantis loved the train too.

Shep looks like a drowned rat because he got in the water behind us... My boys minus Bennett.  And notice GrandmaDean in the background.

Though it was spur of the moment, the boys really had fun riding the Metro train.

Hunter enjoying the view from the window

Enjoying the train

When we got back from Charlotte, we watched the Clemson game then did mom's birthday celebrations.

Getting help blowing out the candles.

And getting help opening presents

And again, more help
